Effective January 27, 2010, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced regulatory guidance concerning Texting While Driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). The guidance is applicable to all interstate drivers of CMVs subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). In Tennessee, use of a hand-held mobile telephone or personal digital assistant is prohibited while driving under T.C.A. 55-8-199. Also, see the USDOT News Release.
